A good days profit from last night’s Kempton Park meeting
and what was lost in strike-rate was gained in price with MAVERICK advised at
10-1 scoring in a pillar to post victory in Kempton Parks 17:40. Only Chapter
And Verse got within a length during the chase for home. We also notched up yet
another second and two abysmal failures. A few more MAVERICK’s wouldn't go a
miss before November comes to a close J
I am not going to follow this horse over the edge of a cliff
but I am hoping to get some payback on FAME AGAIN in the closing Wolverhampton
race at 7:10. A frustrating horse but one I find easy to find excuses for on
the numerous occasion I given it my support.
Two horses have taken my eye on the Dundalk card tonight at
both ends of the betting scale.
PYROMANIAC in the 8:50 landed a massive gamble
last time out after its four previous runs beaten 18l, 12l, 22l and 20l. I am
sure that the expectation was a far easier win than achieved last time out
having to battle in the final furlong to pick up the two leaders with the front
three placing’s 4.1/2 lengths clear of the remainder of the field. There is
always some pessimism on whether a heavily gambled horse will reproducing such a
performance and getting involved will be dependent on the price.
This may be a bit of a punt as we go from a likely favourite to a rank outsider in the 9:20. CONFIDENCE who has been tried higher and is now racing of a mark of 61 shows its best form here at Dundalk and I am hoping that in
this company, this horse, with plenty of early speed may see a MAVERICK style pillar to post victory
with the selection making good use of its stamina in the closing stages. I am
also prepared to be embarrassed at 33-1 and cover my stake with Hopsan J
Good Luck everyone!
