A quick review of today's All Weather double bill at Southwell and Kempton Park

Another day of hitting the post for subscribers with all hopes resting on a horse that burst through the stalls at the start and was withdrawn left me feeling a little punch drunk yesterday. It is at times like this that I have to remind myself that I only lose a point on a failure and the prize when winning is far greater and regardless of how many bad days you have they are quickly overcome. With All Weather meetings coming thick and fast we won’t be lacking opportunities!

Fortunately yesterdays write up had more success with Tee It Up Tommo 1st 5-4 rather fortunate I feel to get the race in the stewards room. Maggie Pink 3rd 9-2, Bramshill Lass 1st 5-1,  Queen Of The Sand and Toccata Blue 2nd 11-2 and 3rd 7-2 respectively, Rose Angel 1st 5-2 and Buccaneer Bob 3rd at 14-1.

With so many square pegs in round holes in earlier races on todays Southwell card. I have a preference to opt out and just watch with interest. Although 12:20 and 2:20 races offer a reasonable level of form over the surface, they are lacking distance form, whereas the 12:50, 1:20 and 1:50 leave us guessing with little more than progeny statistics to guide us.

The form figures for Mataajir look less than inspiring in Southwells 2:50 but recent races were not over 7f on this surface. Mataajir has a record of 2nd of a mark of 60, 1st of a mark of 52 and 1st of a mark of 46 over todays C&D. Racing of 53 and currently trading at 10-1 (B365) offers good value for a place at minimum.

The price of Havelovewilltravel in Kempton Parks 5:50 would suggest it is home and hosed in a race I believe to be far more competitive than the prices suggest. To take advantage of the strength of the favourite I have short-listed Absent Amy, Russian Ice, Flamborough Breeze, Lady Sylvia Araqella and Tammuz as potential back to lay bets with Absent Amy as an EW play.

A horse I seem continually drawn of late is First Class who goes in the Kempton Park finale and although I respect the claims of Athletic and Daring Dragon over this trip, the latter will need to step up considerably on the last time out win in a weak maiden and Athletics running style I feel needs more luck in running than its likely to get.

Good Luck and enjoy your day J
