Grateful for a better end to the week than the fortunes subscribers endured at the
start with THEWANDAOFU and PRINCE ALZAIN both scoring on
Saturday. Neither at prices to boast about but a return to winning ways was more than welcome.
Wolverhampton today offers small and competitive fields so
finding anything of good value is extremely difficult. In the first (2:00) as
attractive a proposition Earthflight may look, with the form of Mark Johnston
and Declan Carroll’s history for 2yo first time Handicappers, especially with
Neil Farley in the plate, MESTIZO and HASTA LA VISTA have to be respected. More
so as the the remainder of the field appear reasonable exposed.
In the 3:00 Twilight Angel sets the bar at a reasonable height
with a somewhat unusual profile of opening its account and failing miserably in
three National Hunt Flat races before tackling Lingfield Parks 6f on Saturday
last going down by ¼ length. Stepping up to 7f you would expect this to be
beneficial. With no way of drawing a parallel with French form, WINTERWELL
could be the one to side with after a promising run on Chantilly’s Polytrack finishing
2nd by a head after being hampered in a £10,000 race.
ESHTYAAQ is the class in the 3:30 and although yet to tackle
over 14f on the All Weather, on the turf this trip and beyond has seen a different horse, getting its head in front twice from being a 15 race maiden over shorter trips. The
drop in class makes it an even more attractive proposition.
It is hard to ignore the two All Weather debutants in the
field in Fieldgunner Kirkup and Personal Touch both having notched up 7f
successes in this grade but the manner of victory by RUWAIYAN when trying
C&D for the first time is to irresistible to resist in the 4:30.
