In an ideal world, involvement in a race is based upon
having strong convictions about a particular horses chances. There are also
times when you have strong convictions about two in the same race. My solution
has always been back them both.
It happened yesterday, and it has happened again today. I am
aware that many subscribers find this to be unsatisfactory and I agree that it
can look particularly ugly if both fail to land the prize. This definitely wasn't
the case yesterday in the Kempton Park opener where we went into the race with 2
points at 7-1 on the heavily backed Operation Chariot and POITIN at 20-1. With Operation
Chariot backed all the way down to an SP 9-4 I have no doubt which of the two
would have been given the vote if opting to choose between them.
POITIN took the prize by a very comfortable length with most
subscribers appearing to have gone the Betfair route and were paid out at
22.82. The 2 points lost on Operation Chariot fall in to obscurity and are much
more preferable than finding yourself crying in to your beer.
Back to the fun and frolics of Wolverhampton this evening
with a couple of races of interest to subscribers. Outside off those races I
like the look of Piccolo Express @ 8-1 in the 8:30, Monte Cassino although not
the most reliable, at 14-1 looks good value for a place. I will back Shyron
until it loses and at odds against and a step up in trip that it obviously
needs will be number three. Add Phils Wish at 5-1 in the 7:30 and Trending in
the opener and we have a 2,479-1 EW Super
Yankee.
Good Luck
