The £30 per month that returned £500 per week! - Week 5

Later than expected so apologies for the late posting of TheActuary All Weather Horse Racing Tips Week 5 report. The kidney stone saga which has plagued me since before Christmas continues and this week has been filled with GP appointments and the pleasure of a ‘Flexible Cystoscopy’ at the Hospital, so this week has been a fine balancing act in staying on top of things. It has also temporarily put back plans of a video diary for the year and further investigation on how to bring you The Actuary ‘Pace and Going’ charts on a daily basis. The latter I am sure you will find so enlightening that if you can’t make money, in multiple ways from there use there is no hope.

A profit of £275 for the week at £10 stakes shouldn't be taken for granted, but we could feel disappointed in our average profit per week dropping from £557 to £501. I am sure that during the roller-coaster ride that a  year in Horse Racing brings we will reflect with gratitude for such week while still allowing ourselves optimism for better.

So here we go! A bright start which tailed off towards the final couple of days.

BOOKMAKERS: Although we had some close calls on landing big priced winners (Cabuchon and Your Gifted) the 14 winners this week produced only £144.25 profit due to the skinny prices on offer in what was generally a poor weeks racing. SP’s fell well short of the prices we took on ‘opening shows’ by almost 11 points. This takes our total winnings with Bookmakers over the 5 weeks to £1,179.00 with opening shows at 213.41 against SP’s at 147.57. I appreciated we are only 5 weeks in to the year but already we have a 66 point difference. A gap expected to widen throughout the year.

BETFAIR WIN: I must admit to being hopeful that we would continue to see the gap between Bookmakers and Betfair Orders close again this week since increasing the order price to 15% above Bookmakers opening shows. We did manage 3 points above BSP from our return but fell a little short of Bookmakers returns with £122.65 for the week. This takes the total profit over the 5 weeks to £1,026.76.

BETFAIR PLACE: Although we managed a return on 52% of place bets I am not overly comfortable with ROI this is providing. There were highlights during the week with the fore mentioned Cabuchon and Your Gifted providing a reasonable profit after accounting for the lost win stake. It was also pleasing that during the period at the tail end of the week which provided 8 consecutive losing win bets, our place bets reduced a potential loss of £80 to £50. We now stand at a profit of £300.58 on our place bets after week 5.

SUMMARY FOR WEEK 5
BOOKMAKERS:                 £144.25
BETFAIR WIN:                    £122.65
BETFAIR PLACE:                £8.27

TOTAL:                                 £275.16

SUMMARY TOTAL (5 weeks)
BOOKMAKERS:                 £1,179.00
BETFAIR WIN:                    £1,026.76
BETFAIR PLACE:                £300.58
