Week 2: Opening Shows v SP and Bookmakers v Betfair

Thank you to everyone’s input in pointing out my glaring errors in the Week 1 report J The suggestion that I am still celebrating Christmas and the New Year is only partially true!

The omission of the place bet returns for Marina Ballerina and the error in the odds comparison between Bookies and Betfair have been corrected. If you spot any more errors please do let me know but there are no prizes, sorry.

The expectancies of ‘opening shows’ to outperform ‘SP’ continues but we are yet to have a big drifter pop up. Of 10 winning bets only The Blue Dog returned bigger and this was caught by BOG. Over the two weeks we are now looking at 'Opening Shows' out performing SP's by 36%. To put that in to an odds perspective 6-1 = 8.16-1!

If was disappointing to see that after the promise of last week where the return from Betfair (£203.87) was marginally better than that of the Bookmakers (£195.65) we returned a deficit of almost 50% less than Bookmakers returns from Betfair this week.

The running totals for the fortnight are now Bookmakers: £356.95 Betfair Win: £289.75. Most notable in comparing the two weeks is that in ‘Week 1’ we achieved almost 15 points higher than BSP while this week we find ourselves losing out marginally to BSP in our ordering 10% above the Bookmakers opening shows. If the returns for next week return a similar pattern I will increase the uplift to 15% for ‘Week 4’

Having made an error in last week’s calculation on the Betfair Place bets, which should have shown a return off £29.83 once again we have retuned a similar profit. Although I still feel that the ROI is poor, the comfort that this can give was borne out yesterday returning our lost win stakes on Tatting and Diamondinthersky. I am sure I will realise the value far greater during poor periods.

In summary to £10 stakes:
Bookmakers:     £356.95
Betfair Win:        £289.75
Betfair Place:     £62.23

Total Profit:     £708.93

Next report will cover 15th - 21st January 2014

Have a great week.
