After a couple of days break from Christmas, New Year and two of my
children’s birthdays mayhem, the batteries have been recharged and I am raring to
go for 2014. We have seen a reasonably favourable start to the year and in the next couple of weeks you will see a resurrection of some old things and
introduction of some new, including a weekly video diary covering subscriber
selections and the Betfair v Bookies, but more of that tomorrow.
Today: ANGLO IRISH is undoubtedly the horse to be on in Div
II of the 32Red Maiden Stakes at 12:50 Lingfield Park but offers no value
unless you are coupling it in multiples. Having an odds on in any race does inflate
the prices of the remainder of the field so opting to find some place value may
be the best play.
Although yet to tackle as far as 10f ALFAAYZA may offer some EW
value at 10-1. Forget the LTO at Southwell where ALFAAYZA didn’t enjoy the slower
surface and centre on its pen-ultimate run on this surface at Kempton Park when
finishing a 1.25 2nd to Aertex, well clear of the remainder of the
field and you have to believe it has good place claims. Breeding suggest it
will get further, the gamble is whether it is ready now as a 3yo.
Although little of the race can be viewed THE DANCING LORD
put up a good time when winning over C&D LTO backing up a 5f win prior to
that. 10-1 looks very good value in Lingfield Park’s 1:25 for a horse
previously winning over C&D LTO in a field where few with the exception of
The Mongoose have excelled over the trip.
With my original selection Putin taken out it is hard to
deny the claims of PRESUMIDO in the Lingfield 2:00. 5lb Claimer Jack Duern did subscribers
a big turn yesterday with Roger Thorpe (adv 5-1) and I have no reservation
about his tenacity in the saddle to get PRESUMIDO home in front. The drop back
in trip to 6f for One Way Or Another looks odd but the booking of Adam Kirby
and is usually riding style of kicking early may give good it an EW squeak at
14-1.
WHAILEYY put in a good performance when last seen over
C&D back in January but has done little since in two Meydan runs and two
runs back in the UK. Those runs were against tougher opposition than opposing
here in the 3:10 and the withdraw of Equitania has helped the cause. I am hopeful
of a return to the January level of form at 9-1. I would expect Naabegha to be
on the premises at the business end but feel that this is tougher for Rivellino
than its price suggests.
The 3:45 has several horses that excel over this trip and
Canadian Run, Scottish Glen, THE GREAT GABRIAL and Ancient Greece look to be
the main protagonists. Although the margin between them looks marginal taking
draw and running style into consideration the pins drops on THE GREAT GABRIAL.
Have a great day and stay dry J
