Before I wax lyrical on yet another very profitable
day, I feel the tragedy that unfolded in Southwell’s 3:40 is the bigger story that
came out of Mondays racing. Losing one horse, fatally injured in a race is a rarity,
but to lose two in the same race shakes you to the core and puts a different
perspective on our moans and grievances when races don’t go our way.
At 2:40
Trainer Roy Bowring was celebrating the success of Ace Master. An hour later he
knows he will be going home with an empty space in the horse box. Granted, neither Kelly’s Eye having only its second run for Ian
Williams after its move from Zoe Davison and Roy Bowrings Maakirr were no St Nicholas Abbey’s, but being lesser lights shouldn't diminish this tragic loss.
On a more positive note, subscribers to The Actuary All Weather Horse Racing Tips Service were rewarded later in the day when 2 point selection Imjin River (7-1)
made relatively light work of a field of 13 after being backed down to 3-1, this was followed by Ruffled (6-4 Rule 4 40p) in Wolverhampton 5:00 who also returned
far shorter than its opening odds partly due to the original field of 5 being depleted to 3.
Once again the 2014 strategy of backing selections ‘Win’ and
‘Place’ on the exchanges paid dividends when Master Of Disguise (14-1) could
only make the frame and my 'Place' order of 3.45 was matched providing a small profit on the race.
We were not so fortunate in the 4:00 Wolverhampton. Another race that cut up badly with a field of 5 being reduced to three, this included the withdraw of Officer In Command.
Selection Elusive Hawk’s attempt to make all fell into a big black hole in the
final furlong.Tragedy aside a good days profit and we move on to Southwell
tomorrow with 4 races of interest.
Good Luck and let’s hope today they all come home safely J
