@Southwell Today

We have the pleasure of a cluster of meetings at Southwell over the coming days so today will give a good indication on how the course is riding.

In the 12:00 opener, with so many debutants on the surface it makes for a bit of a guessing game. BISCUITEER by virtue of its last run on the course gets the virtue on the clock while Skinny Love grabs the attention of the debutants on my ‘Sire’ stats.

The 12:30 also offers little in the way of surface form with only 5 of the 11 having previous. NEIGHBOURHOOD does set the bar to a high level and this is reflected in the market with all the 11-4 snapped up and 9-4 is now the best on offer. There may be better value in taking the likes of Tobrata or Miss Ella Jade EW.

The consistency of Spitfire in the 1:00 makes it a worthy favourite and of the debutants Avonmore Star and King Vahe preference would be with the former. FATHOM FIVE has run to a reasonable standard over C&D and looks capable in giving the favourite most to do on the clock.

The 1:30 is the highlight of the day for me and it will interesting to see how the highly rated debutants cope with the surface against three tried and trusted that I find hard to split: DUBAI HILLS, Aubrietia and Laffan. This trip seems to be more favourable for DUBAI HILLS who gets the nod.

There was some hope for a bigger price about IVY PORT in the 3:00 in a competitive field. Although I have no wish to back against it I have no wish to take such a skinny price. Masked Dance offers a little value and has sound EW claims.

I am scratching my head over the 3:30 and question with the exception of 3 horse why they are here over this trip! Although I am in danger of contradicting myself in saying that I am unable to back the favourite Grace Hull over this trip HEIDI’S DELIGHT didn’t particular show her best colours when last seen over C&D in May. This time we have P.J. McDonald in the saddle and at 16’s could be in the placing’s.

Have fun today J
