Picks for Lingfield Park and Wolverhampton today

There is little to choose between the levels of performance of those horse with form but the preference goes to SPECIAL MISS on the clock in the Lingfield Park opener at 12:00. It would be no surprise to see one of the un-raced entries taking the prize so the price looks a little too short to be an attractive bet.

Div II looks equally unappealing at 12:30 with SPECTATOR offering the best value and best time on the clock from the limited form on offer.

The likely favourite Kodafine has better form over 5f than over 6f in Lingfield Parks 1:00 and preference goes to ROYAL RIVER who put in a good effort when racing over C&D back in October. There are two unknown quantities on the surface in Ain’t No Surprise and Little Tinka to consider but the 10-1 available on the selection offers good EW value.

Gregori and Cadeaux Pearl offer a fair level of recent form in the 1:30 but with question marks on the trip for both they may find the likes of Novabridge, Dark Lane and TRENDING tough opposition. At 11-2 TRENDING reverts back to the minimum trip where all of its three wins have been achieved and looks the value.

There is no doubt that the 3:00 would have been a better race had The Great Gabrial taken its chance. Legendary and Scottish Glen have similar levels of attainment over this trip and are likely to head the market. Although a bigger ask than last time over C&D. HIGH TIME TOO has run commendably over this trip and the 14-1 available looks more than generous to me.

I am loathed to back anything at Wolverhampton with the course yo-yoing going conditions and would have a preference to see times returned in the openers before getting heavily involved.

I was expecting DANCING SAL to be favourite in the 2:40 and I wouldn't be put off by the current drift and will be looking to get a bigger price than the current before the off. DANCING SAL has been bounced between 5f, 7f and 8f lately and finally lands on 6f which I believe is her trip.

I am disappointed with the opening price of DISCUSSIONTOFOLLOW but cannot see beyond it in the Wolverhampton 3:40. Although a tougher ask than previous, aware of the capabilities of Bogsnog, Powerful Pierre and Mambo Spirit who I see as the main dangers, I feel that the selection has the ability to surpass that standard.

As gutsy as Doldrums performance was on its début, this step up in trip is on the upper most limit of its limitations on breeding which is likely to detract from its performance today. MODERNISM on the other hand has excelled over this trip and I fear Lean On Pete and Berlusca may pose a bigger threat to the selection than the favourite.

We have little in the way of a guide over the trip in Wolverhampton’s finale at 5:10. A little bit of 8f and a little bit of 9f we have One Scoop Or Two, Queen Aggie setting the bar with the former offering the best over the trip. You would have to think that there will be further improvement from the lightly raced JALADEE who was extremely green when scoring over C&D in November. This is a tougher ask but I feel hopeful that JALADEE will continue its upward curve against this fully exposed opposition.

Good luck with your picks J
