There has been little to write to the blog over the past
week with a trickle of selections, mostly winning selections, but today, I feel
it will be therapeutic in exorcising the demons of being chewed up and spat out
after yesterdays selections.
We started well with 1 point DARING DRAGON (opened 6-4)
winning the first and we were already aware at this point 3 point selection
JULLUNDAR was declared a non runner. Our next selection 2 points DUSTLAND
FAIRYTALE (5-4) ran so poorly the trainers representative was called before the
stewards and reported 'the mare was unsuited by the standard going' doffed his cap
and walked out of the stewards room.
A story was also unfolding from the course regarding the heavily backed Bert Trick being withdrawn on invitation by the BHA. I am sure there will be more on this on the coming days.
FLEMISH SCHOOL was next up and finished 13 lengths clear of
the rest of the field, withthe exception of one. Unrated Great Fighter didn't
need to live up to its name and was so much the better that Luke Morris gave up
the chase once passed.
Hopes for the day know rested heavily on 2 point selection
OFF THE PULSE (opened 12-1) and I was very counting my money as it traveled around
the outside and in to a challenging position as they turned for home. Once in
the lead it appeared harder work than anticipated and although OFF THE PULSE
maintained an advantage over its early adversary Lyric Peace, Soul Intent was
closing from the wide outside and the post just didn't come soon enough for the
selection and 24 points profit bit the dust with our second bridesmaid on the
card.
