How annoying that having chosen to watch the football last
night with a view to watch the races later that I find the race of most
interest to me and subscribers, Kempton Parks 8:15 is missing from all the
archives!
After trying all the usual sources, if anyone is aware why
or if it can be viewed anywhere please let me know.
There are no shortage of runners tonight at Kempton with
just short of 100 going to post over the eight race card. I am sure with fields
this size there will be some hard luck stories. If there is a saving grace, it
is that all races are on the outer loop (no 5f or 10f races) giving just short
of 3 furlongs in the home straight for selections to weave their magic (or not)
Outside of the 3 races of interest to subscribers this evening, the 8:40
looks the most appealing to critique.
With 4 horses with good records over C&D in the
form of Greylami, Nave, Autun and Jazz Master my focus has been to see how
those untried over C&D are likely to compare and look for some value.
8yo Greylami, despite its age is still a competitive horse
and is handicapped to run well but is in declined on this year's form. Ace Of
Valhalla raced once on fibresand as a 2yo, beaten and one paced in second over
Wolverhampton 9f. Although stepped up in trip to win over 12f on turf, this was
on good to soft in a Class 5 maiden which cast doubt in today's company. Fibresand debutante Jupiter Storm has won
twice in this grade, one maiden and on 0-80 handicap. Looks the likely pace in
the race and has to be respected if we can find nothing likely to put it under
pressure. Nave, previously mentioned as one of the four that has run well over
C&D but is now on a mark that found it wanting previously. The lightly
raced Autun is ultra consistent and I have no doubt will be in the frame but
beaten in to second on 2 previous runs over C&D in similar company and only
the one win over 8f makes me uncomfortable. Jazz Master demolished the field
over C&D LTO but I have reservations on what was beaten and this does
appear to be a step up. POMPEIA has a different profile to the other five 3yo in
the race in so much as it was last seen on a racecourse back in June. With the
improvement 3yo usually show between July and August POMPEIA could be anything.
Already a course winner as a 2yo and was second beaten 4 lengths by a horse now
rate 101 in a 0-95 on its last outing, I think the 8.5 (7-1) on the exchanges
looks very good value. Ikhtisas has managed to win a Class 5 handicap over 10f
but has shown nothing since to suggest that it belongs in this company.
Strawberry Jam has won over C&D in Class 4 company beating Halling's
Treasure who is on tonight's card contesting a Class 6 which sais not a lot
about the level of that form!
Good Luck and hope the traffic in packed fields is kind to
you :)
