Full Speed Ahead at Wolverhampton, As Slow As You Like At Southwell

A word of caution on today’s enticing double header of All Weather racing where we see an unusual occurrence of Southwell playing host to the evening fixture and Wolverhampton the afternoon fixture!
The caution relates to Southwell where I will be expecting the course to be riding slow and very testing due to the wonderful weather we are experiencing.

I am sure that efforts will be made to water to keep the surface as close to standard as possible prior to racing but in the expected temperature, I am equally certain that no amount of water will deliver ‘standard’.

Outside of the races carrying subscriber’s money I find LITTLE JIMMY ODSOX appealing in Wolverhampton’s opener at 13:45. Not only TheActuary top rated for the race but equally appealing on previous form from its two C&D runs. Available at 12-1 early today there is no surprised to see that LITTLE JIMMY ODSOX has already taken a weight of money to be trading at half those odds. The out of form Code Six has also ran with some credibility over C&D at a nice EW price.

BANG TIDY should be respected back on this surface in Wolverhampton’s finale at 17:15 after working its mark back down on turf to proximity of its last winning mark. Currently trading at 9-1 I would be disappointed if BANG TIDY wasn’t ‘bang’ in the mix at the line.

With slight reservation on how the surface is riding at Southwell, a tentative selection goes to FAIRY WING at a very generous 14-1. Now back over a more suitable trip after attempting 7f FAIRY WING reverts back to 6f. A trip that when last attempted at Southwell saw the selection still on the bridle at the 2 furlong pole before having to fend off the attention of Thorpe Bay. Now higher in the ratings than when delivering the prize on that occasion but this surface is a great leveler.
