Prospecting for a dream 10-1 winner at Wolverhampton

Still a Maiden after 10 outings it comes as no surprise that today’s Wolverhampton selection is currently trading at an SP of 10-1.

Having been tried over a no further than a mile in its 3yo and early 4yo campaign DREAM PROSPECTOR before being stepped up to 10 furlongs and finishing late and fast to finish second by ¾ lengths at Kempton Park.

Two subsequent turf runs saw DREAM PROSPECTOR 28 lengths adrift over 10 furlongs in Class 5 company before stepping up again in trip to 12 furlongs. The performance in this race also catches the eye as the selection picks its way through the field from the rear going down by 4.1/2 lengths.

My opinion is that on its last run the jockey D Sweeney was less than vigorous in his efforts but produced enough to be aware there was still petrol in the tank over the longer trip.
Today DREAM PROSPECTOR takes on just short of 14 furlongs and I am fully expecting today to be the day that it sheds that maiden tag.
