Porgy pays the bills at Wolverhampton after the Kempton Park crawl

The Actuary Horse Racing Tips subscribers had to wait for the final selection of the day in Wolverhampton's opener to record a profit for the day. The Actuary provided three selections at Kempton Park. All finished in the frame but nothing landed the spoils, with Simply 3rd 10-1, Chalk and Cheese 2nd 13-2 and Admiralty 2nd 4-1.

What we were not aware of until shortly before the Kempton Park card got under way was that work had been carried out leaving the track running extremely slow. The going report from Clerk of the Course read:

Standard to Slow - 1m 4f: Centre, Remainder: Inside - Watering
We have ameliorated the existing Polytrack with 844 tonnes of slightly modified Polytrack which has a higher percentage fibre and wax content. This has invigorated the existing material and in comparison to all new all weather surfaces it will take a few weeks to settle down.

The most poignant comment being the 'few weeks to settle down'. I am sure that with three meetings in as many days we will be able to gauge how long the return to BAU is likely to be.

Our saving grace was 'Speed and Class' selection Porgy advised at 13-2 taking the 6:20 Wolverhampton under Mr D Levey.

Mr. D Levey takes Porgy (nose-band) to the front for a comfortable 4.1/2 length win

Porgy took up a position enabling him to easily pick up the front runners, stalking the leaders from the outset. Caught wide for just a short time the field became so strung out this ceased to be a problem and Mr D.Levey was going by far the best as they turned for home and scored comfortably by 4.1/2 lengths.

With 5 points lost on earlier selections, the 6.5 points win courtesy of SkyBet gave a small 1.5 profit on the day for subscribers.
