16-1, 6-1, 7-2 and 9-4 winners......or short-head misery?

After getting off to a flyer yesterday having taken 20-1 Whitford followed shortly after by Caphira at 3-1, I thought that this was going to be a bumper day for The Actuary Horse Racing Tips. Come the last race at Wolverhampton I felt positively punch-drunk!

Short-head number One: 2 point selection Majestic Zafeen 6-1 (The Actuary) (On The Money)

Majestic_zafeen_6-1

Majestic Zafeen (Red and Yellow) beaten a shot-head by seven race maiden Saratoga Slew in the last stride after hitting the front of the home bend.

Short-head number Two: Brigadoon 7-2 (Trip Handicap)

Brigadoon_7-2

A favourable outcome this time as Michael Murphy on Brigadoon holds off the late lunging Richard Hughes on Spartan Spirit taking our tally for the day to 20-1, 3-1, 7-2 and 1-2 with 4 selections to run at Wolverhampton's evening card.

Short-head number Three: Asian Trader 9-4 (Speed and Class)

Asian_trader_9-4

An unforgivable ride by Liam Jones who was seen to be looking left and right as he cruised to the front on the selection in the home straight only to be collared on the line by Andre Atzeni on Havin' A Good Time.

Short-head number Four: Unlimited 16-1 (Trip Handicap)

Unlimited_16-1

The most painful of the short-heads, OK, officially a neck, but never the less a narrow defeat, and when the selection is 16-1, a bitter pill to swallow. Unlimited (white) collared by Hayley Turner on Satwa Laird (pink) in the dying strides.

Having made a decent profit for the day, it seems a little greedy to be bemoaning narrow defeats. It is not always money but pride at stake. I don't want on my headstone 'The Actuary gets them in the frame'

Hey, but we get to play again today!
