Imagine for just one minute you are a Bookmaker. You have a book where only one horse has been backed and it has been hammered from 15-8 down to 4-5 on. The race in question is £1,700 5f Selling Stakes. I have two questions for you.
How much would you pay for the horse to be slow away in this 5f sprint?
If you were the connections of the horse, with £1,700 in prize money to the winner, in a seller, so a possibility of losing the horse if it won, how much money would it take to ensure it loses?
Adrian Nicholls appears to lose his iron coming out the stalls on the heavily backed Crimea
Not that I would suggest such a conspiracy had played out in the 2:45 Wolverhampton but the race was the catalyst that prompted those thought processes. One of the heaviest backed horses of the day, a horse that has a history of leading or racing prominently slowly away from the stalls!
