Good morning Guys,

Those that have followed me through 2009 and 2010 will be aware that the decrease in All Weather meetings during the summer months has a detrimental effect on the selection process caused by the tenuous form lines. The summer of 2010 was an improvement on 2009, and I have no reason to believe that the summer of 2011 will not be an improvement on 2010.

Below you will see a graphical representation of the average days since the last run of winning horses on the All Weather over the past 3 years. Compared against the months we are most successful it is easy to understand exactly how tenuous the form lines can become.



After careful deliberation I am hopeful that I have a favourable solution regarding subscriptions during this period!

As there is no definitive cut off date due to subscribers joining at various stages through the month. ALL subscribers that leave their subscriptions in place after 31st April 2011 will be refunded on their next subscription date through PayPal (I would hope to make the refund on the same day as the subscription is paid). I will continue to refund each month until 1st September 2011 which in effect will make the service FREE for May, June, July and August 2011. I will continue to provide selections based upon your current subscription level.

I hope this meets with the approval of the majority and look forward to your continued support.

Horse Racing Tips - Study reveals futility of whipping racehorses

Whipping racehorses is pointless and does not make a difference to the outcome of the race, new research from two University of Sydney veterinarians has revealed.

The study, which has been peer-reviewed and published by the Public Library of Science, investigated the impact of whipping on performance in Thoroughbred races.

Study co-author and Honorary Associate Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Dr David Evans, said the results offer no support for the retention of whipping in horse racing.

"We looked at running times in a series of races, how whips were used and whether that whip use influenced the outcome of a race," he said.

"What we found was that whipping did not affect the probability of whether or not a horse finished a race in the first three placings.

"How a horse ran in the first part of a race, when it wasn't being whipped, was the most critical factor in racing success. So horses are being whipped in the final stages of a race, in the face of muscle fatigue, for no benefit."

Animal behaviour expert and co-author Professor Paul McGreevy said he hoped this research would highlight the fallacy and futility of whipping.

"The reason for whip use has traditionally been the need to be seen to ride the horse out and the suggestion that you can steer a horse with the whip," he said.

"Many horse riders, and certainly these findings, refute that. Top performance horses have been bred and prepared to give their best.

"Add to that excellent horsemanship and you've got a winning combination. That's all you need.

"We have evidence here that great horsemanship does not involve flogging tired horses."

The research was funded by RSPCA Australia and carried out with the assistance of Racing New South Wales.

RSPCA Chief Scientist, Dr Bidda Jones, said the results will help end the debate over whether there is a place for whipping in the future of Australian Thoroughbred racing.

"This study has found that jockeys use whips just as people would expect - to try to make their slowing horse recover speed in the closing stages of a race in the hope they will get a place. That's not surprising. What is surprising is the finding that whipping doesn't make any difference.

"Jockeys may as well save their energy, keep their hands on the reins, and head straight for home. Their horses will be so much better off for it."

Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney, Professor Rosanne Taylor, said this report will challenge traditional thinking.

"Science has the ability to challenge our views of what is otherwise considered the norm," she said.

"This result is a good example of how evidence can inform the way we work with animals to promote their optimal performance and welfare.

"In this instance, the future wellbeing of Australian racehorses is looking brighter, because we now better understand that horses give their best when they are not whipped, before the 400m mark, positioning themselves for a win or place."

MARCH 2011 REPORT - £9,479.50 PROFIT

A total of 94.8 points profit was made during March 2011. As most horse racing tips sites appears to boast profits at £100 stakes, for ease of comparison that would be a profit of £9,479.50. I am no ‘Internet Marketeer’ and appreciate that in reality this is not a realistic stake for most subscribers and bettors pockets.

In what was a mediocre month it was nice to see that even at SP all services returned a profit. As there have been several requests for the complete history for this month, I have now posted the completed history to my blog. To see the complete history for March CLICK HERE!

The highlights of the month was undoubtedly that March saw five horses tipped by all three services showing a 100% strike rate and maintained our 75% strike since the start of the All Weather season back on 1st October 2010 with 24 winners from 32 selections. Sounds like something the more patient bettor could retire on!

March is viewed by many as the end of the All Weather season and a possible down turn in our fortunes but the 29.23 points profit on 1st April would suggest otherwise!
