The Actuary All Weather Horse Racing Tips Southwell and Wolverhampton Preview

With all eyes on Cheltenham over the next four days it is a little disappointing that the racing at Southwell and Wolverhampton is not overly enticing.

With a Actuary Horse Racing Tips subscriber selection already in the 5:05 Southwell, I am looking over my shoulder a little at DISCAY’S gutsy performance last time out holding off Goldmachen and Stanley Rigby. Lightly raced in comparison to its rivals DISCAY has scope for improvement and there is no surprise in its return over C&D having appeared to thrive on the change of surface after several moderate performances on the turf.

Awattan is likely to be the horse to beat in Wolverhampton’s 6:20 after doing all its best work in the closing stages last time out over 8f at Lingfield
Park but the horse that has caught my eye is John Gosden’s MOMA LEE. Several Duke of Marmalade progeny have been entered in to Class 1 and Class 2 races in the coming turf season leading me to believe that MOMA LEE might be better than a Class 5 Fillies Maiden. 

The Actuary on The Cheltenham Festival!

For so many, today heralds the start of a festival that epitomises why they are in love with the sport of kings. For me, if I were to draw parallels, I see Cheltenham in the same way as I see the collection box for uncured diseases where I am expected to empty my pockets so a multi-billion pound corporation can research with my money and come up with a cure that my local health trust will later deny me on the grounds of cost, or a host of extremely rich celebrities asking me to empty my pockets repeatedly on ‘Red Nose Day’.

With all the offers flooding my mail box each day, the bookmaking fraternity would have me believe they are charitable organisations!  For the past 11 months every bookmaker from A-Z has slowly ramped up the volume in the hope of drawing me in with special deals and concessions in the hope they can disguise the reality that Cheltenham is a bookmakers benefit, ably assisted by the media in all its forms with its 361 day countdown.

If you have ever asked yourself what can be done to improve horse racing in the UK, top of the list has to be the media’s blinkered view.  Centreing continually on 4 or 5 events each season, as they load the stalls from Perth to Newton Abbott, from Ffos Las to Great Yarmouth we have a pundit talking about a race taking place in 6 months’ time, 5 months’ time, but so rarely the here and now!

With monotonous certainty we can guarantee that in five days time the cycle will begin all over again. Having to relive every yard of every race for a couple of months until the focus changes to next years festival for the remaining 10 months.

Today we also have two meetings covered by At The Races on the All Weather, Southwell and Wolverhampton. Where will their focus be? Cheltenham, which they won’t even be screening! God forbid Southwell having a delay causing a commentary clash.

There is no denying that Cheltenham is a great spectacle, but a gambling medium, not for me.

The most important race in my horse racing calendar is the race in which I have my next bet, which wont be at Cheltenham. I just keep hoping that whoever is televising the coverage of my race will do it justice and not treat it with the usual distain because the surface isnt green!

Another winning day for The Actuary All Weather Horse Racing Tips

Having had reservation about involment in today’s Wolverhampton card I am pleased to report that The Actuary All Weather Horse Racing Tips came out of the day unscathed with a small profit from our two selections.

Neither horse was a sexy price but the first of our subscribers selection, Where’s Riley (available at 7-2) duly obliged in the 3:30.

Graham Gibbons stalked Spic’n’Span who attempted to slip the field as they turned in to the home straight and for a fleeting moment looked like achieving its aim. Spic’n’Span capitulated, tying up in the last half furlong and was caught by our resolute selection Where’s Riley.

The second of our selections Rawaafed, dropping back to a more desirable trip and fitted with first time head gear flattered to deceive travelling well only to find nothing in the final 220 yards.

We have a welcome break from activity before returning on Tuesday 12^th March where we have the delights of Southwell and Lingfield Park beckoning.

The Actuary All Weather Horse Racing Tips Wolverhampton preview

With The Actuary All Weather Horse Racing Tips suffering a ‘Murphys Law’ day yesterday at Wolverhampton with the most painful of defeats being suffered by Miss Bunter and subscribers only selection Story Writer, I am not particularly enamoured by the return there today. The card screams ‘square pegs in round holes’ and it is difficult to decipher any outstanding opportunities.

It is more out of sentiment than logic that I am drawn toward MONSIEUR CHEVALIER in the opener at 2:20. The horse that was would surely make short work of these but the recent history of slowly away has cost it dearly while still showing its class in the later stages of its races.

HARRISON GEORGE has not seen the winner enclosure for two years but in its penultimate start was only just headed over 7f at Kempton Park. Last time out was seen to be finishing to good effect over 5f at Wolverhampton. Now coming to Lingfield over 6f looks like the ideal compromise and is a very generous price for a horse undoubtedly returning to top form.

In todays other races it would be hard to ignore the great book of rides for JOE FANNING and RICHARD HUGHES who between them could easily land a treble and double respectively.

The Actuary All Weather Horse Racing Tips Wolverhampton preview

I am always wary of unraced horses being dropped in amongst more exposed types and with The Actuary All Weather Horse Racing Tips sole selection of the day going in 6:40 it will be interesting to see if there is any market moves for either of the two unraced. Keeping a race horse is a costly business so Chris Dwyer must feel BIT WINDY has some promise, seeing the race course forthe first time at the age of 4 and may be worth a little EW at 25-1.

There was a lot to like about the last time out performance of the lightly raced PETROL who was still showing a degree of greenness in victory here 7 days ago. The step back in trip is of slight concern but if Daniel Tudhope makes more use of the horse I would expect to see further improvement and another victory in the 7:40.

SAOI was unlucky not to go back to back last time out and was pulling for its head of a dawdling early pace before closing all the way to the line from midfield to be denied by a head down Lingfield Park’s short straight. The return to Wolverhampton where it will be better able to use its finishing speed to full effect will see its head in front again in the 7:10.

MISS BUNTER has not been out of the frame in her last 6 starts and the form of her last two races stacks up very well. There is no Clubland or Aubrietia in this race and with David Bergin back on board I expect to see her repeat the 4^th January victory tonight in the 6:10

Another winning 3 point selection for The Actuary All-Weather Horse Racing Tips

Easier to find than The Actuary Horse Racing Tips first 3 point winning selection Caldercruix, subscribers second 3 point selection Dewala (advised at 11-8) completes a clean sweep in our races of interest at Southwell.

Always prominent Dewala stretched the field over the final 3 furlongs and looked like being caught by Stanley Rigby as they came inside the distance. When Conor Harrison became a little more urgent on the selection, Dewala responded providing subscribers with a cherry on the top!

Massive gamble landed for The Actuary Horse Racing Tips

Advised last night by The Actuary All Weather Horse Racing Tips at 10-1 three point selection Caldercruix takes Southwells 4:30 under Raul Da Silva.

Chasing the long time leader Alpha Tauri it looked doubtful whether the selection would go past as it ducked in behind the leader inside the final furlong. Raul Da Silva corrected his path and won going away as Aplha Tauri started to paddle.

With Jack Dawkins already scoring for subscribers, a hat ful of selection still to come in the remainder of the Southwell card before going in to Wolverhampton tonight it could be a bumper day!

The Actuary Horse Racing Tips All Weather Southwell preview

The main All Weather focus of The Actuary Horse Racing Tips attention today will be Southwell’s afternoon card marginally ahead of the Wolverhampton evening card with the 4:30 taking centre stage.

With a 3 point selection in the race at what I believed to be ridiculously generous odds I thought I would revisit the race and consider dangers to The Actuary Horse Racing Tips selection. MASAI MOON was the horse that I felt most likely to trouble our selection. It’s one success from five attempts over C&D may be a little bit of a deterrent but forgiving a 9 length defeat in a claimer has only been beaten nk, 3/4L AND 3.1/4L along with its victory in Handicaps. Currently at double figure odds has to be considered a good EW proposition.  

In the race prior to this, the step back to a mile over a more testing surface should surely fit the bill for three times bridesmaid ARYAL. On all three occasions the selection has led on 

polytrack only to be caught late. I would be hopeful that a Mark Johnston horse will be able to keep grinding away on a surface where they won’t be able to close so quickly.

The other race that has caught my eye is Southwell’s opener at 2:20 due to the fascicle manner of victory by JACK DAWKINS two days ago. With three of its rivals re-opposing today I am unable to see any reason why any of those three should turn the form around should the selection adopt the same tactics. The danger may come from one of the other three namely Xpres Maite.

The Actuary first of two selections Clubland wins (advised at 6-1)

The first of today’s two Actuary Horse Racing tips selections Clubland (advised at 6-1) made easy work of its 13 rivals over a misty Southwell 5 furlongs.

Drawn 1, The Actuary selection led from pillar to post under Mark Coumbe and gradually worked its way over to the stands rail chased by only M J Woodward who closed to within 1.1/4 lengths. The success continues March rich vein of form with subscribers already +26 points to the good for the month.

The Actuary Horse Racing Tips February 2013 Report

Sorry for the delay Guys, The Actuary February report has now been published on Scribd and can be accessed through the ‘2013 RESULTS’ page.

Looking back over the month I guess we can be fairly satisfied with doubling the profit made in January with a cosy 35.16% strike rate. If you can use the word ‘cosy’ in a derogatory fashion, that is my intent. I would personally find a 25% strike rate and a larger profit margin more appealing but I know many of you feel far more comfortable with a high strike rate.

Ironically ‘Speed and Class’ recorded a 35.7% strike rate but was the only method with a loss of -8.12 for the month. The full break down read:

THE ACTUARY +16.55

ON THE MONEY +11.00

TRIP HANDICAP +3.82

SPEED AND CLASS -8.12

TOTAL PROFIT +23.25

Once again we had our fair share of second (18.68%) and third (15.38%) placing which I guess is par for the course. What did hurt where the number of big prices that fell in to this category. As an example, the last day of February saw Tight Lipped advised at 11-1 and Petersboden advised at 10-1 both finishing second. The whole of the month seems to be littered with similar scenarios and a couple of these dropping in would have seen a dramatic increase in the month’s profit.

Not that we should indulge in any premature gloating but with 22 points already in the bank for March let’s hope we can break of few records!

Another winning day with The Actuary Horse Racing Tips

The Actuary Horse Racing Tips continued its fine run of form on Saturday afternoons Lingfield Park card.

Following up on Fridays successes which saw three of four selections winning, we were offered 2 selections book-ending the Lingfield card. With one of two selections Love You Louis declared a non-runner all hopes rested with Swing Easy (advised at 5-1)

Swing Easy was towed along through the early stages by Lucky Mountain, pulling double for Graham Lee only to find himself involuntarily leading well over three furlongs out. Only Gabrial The Duke was able to offer any competition as they turned for home and Graham Lee had to do little more than shake the reins to keep the selection Swing Easy in front.
