A Friday Yankee for Lingfield Park and Wolverhampton
Although there were 4 top rated winners yesterday I was
bemused by the runs of several horses and it wasn't until doing the days
returns that it became apparent that after a period where times appeared to be
getting back on track at Wolverhampton, once again we are back to extremely
testing.
Yesterday’s post made a reasonable return with RUN IT TWICE
and GIVE US A BELLE both scoring. CHATEAU LOLA also made the frame at 20-1.
Today, in Lingfield Parks 12:45 Hamoody has put in several
above par efforts over this distance including two efforts at Lingfield Park
off a similar rating. Pabusar makes a second appearance on the surface after a
reasonable 6f effort at Kempton Park and has to be respected in this company.
ELECTRIC QATAR finds itself 7lb lower than when having its only C&D run
here back in February recording a time that should see it get the measure of this
opposition.
C&D winner KAKATOSI (16-1) is a big price in the 3:05 for a horse with
a 100% 1 out of 1 recorded around this time last year and if able to reproduced
a run of that standard today will take all the catching.
The Lingfield finale at 3:35 looks like square pegs in round holes with
the exception of Perfect Delight and MAISON BRILLET. The latter appears to have
the edge over this C&D and jockey.
A moderate bunch turn out for Wolverhampton's 4:30 and it will be
interesting to see if there is any market support for Slipper Satin who had a
strange introduction to life across the Irish Sea with a spin over 2 miles over
obstacles on heavy ground after being raced and winning over half that trip. I
am sure that today’s drop back to 1 mile 4 furlongs on this surface will be a more
pleasurable experience for it. AKDAM looks to set the standard from the limited
form available and is the worthy favourite.
Good luck :)

KUANYAO (opened 7-1) was the only bright light for
subscribers yesterday and pace played a part in the demise of several others
with Bancnuanaheireann and Nautilus falling foul to muddling slow paces and
Grandad Mac attempting to break the course mile record in a 2 mile race.
We did see some good performance from yesterday’s post with
Picansort showing to be worthy of running in better company being completed
blocked in for half a furlong before finishing full of running. The Mongoose was
caught late finishing third to the two dangers mentioned and Knockgraffon Lad
finished second in his respective race as did Ex Ex. Celtic Charlie also
finished in the frame at a handsome 14-1.
Today, BROWN PETE would have been of interest in the opener
but as it is now being housed in unlicensed premises since its move to Ann Stokell
has been withdrawn for the second time in a week on request from the BHA. I most
certainty have no interest in the jolly Prince Of Burma when even on its best
form it looks to be inferior to UNEX MICHELANGELO and Mcmonagle. The former
also has the advantage of an above standard time over C&D and more
attractively priced.
There is little margin for error in the 4:20 and the RUN IT
TWICE sets a good standard on its last C&D run back in April and is now
10lb further down the handicap. Most consistent is Piccolo Express and it would
be no surprise to see the two battle out the finish.
Although not seen over C&D Wyatt Earp is better than its
form figures suggest and at 28’s could well find itself in the placing’s in the
6:50. GIVE US A BELLE is a worthy favourite based upon its two C&D
performances but whether being 6lb higher may be a bridge to far remains to be
seen.
In Div II Divertimenti has been over C&D nine times and
its last C&D run was arguable its best and is now 2lb better off. At a big
price CHATEAU LOLA makes its 15 C&D appearance and may well have the
measure of many of these.
Good luck to you all :)

Ex's, Flame's, Lad's, Charlie's and all Sorts on the All Weather today!
Subscribers may a wee dent in bookies satchels yesterday when one of the two selections HEEZARARITY (6-4) took Wolverhamptons 6:40. We are a lot busier today! The one tentative selection put up on this page, Follow The Flag only beat the non-runner home with a woeful performance.
A few consideration outside of races with subscribers selections are as follows:
On my figures SPIRITUAL FLAME sets the bar reasonably high over this trip in the Lingfield Park opener. The danger in what has
become a 4 runner affair is the pace and usually held up SPIRITUAL FLAME may need
adopt different tactics to be seen in its best light.
Given that the contenders are a little short of Class 2 in
the Lingfield 1:00 and probably the fastest two horses Addictive Dream and
Alben Star are better over 6f this might fall the way of PICANSORT who has the
best and most recent form over 5f.
THE MONGOOSE seems to run hot and cold, but if on song today has to
be a major player in the 2:00. I have a question mark over the suitability of
the trip for Kakapuka and Dozy Joe at the top of the handicap and see this as a
marked step up for Barbados Bob. I would expect Athletic and Shauna's Spirit to
pose the biggest threat.
Although this is a step from its LTO win, KNOCKGRAFFON LAD
could land the 3:00 Lingfield Park Class 4 after several attempts in the class
over further. Reverting to this trip saw a change in fortunes and the time
would suggest it capable of notching up back to back wins.
What looks to be a motley bunch line up for the Kempton Park
4:20 and based upon the form on offer I would expect EX EX to come on
sufficiently from its first run to take this. This view is reflected in the
market with EX EX trading at 6-4.
In the 5:20 there is such a lack of recent distance form you
may be questioning the motives behind why some of these are turning out for the
contest. Only CELTIC CHARLIE has shown to put his best hoof forward over the
trip and at 12-1 is worth an interest.
LARGHETTO hasn't ripped up any trees since winning over this
trip at Wolverhampton in April but its last run heralded a return to a level of
form capable of taking the 6:50 Kempton Park. Relatively lightly raced when
compared to its main rivals West Leake, Multitask and One Last Dream could
prove to be clever placement by Mr Stimpson.
Good luck and enjoy your day :)

115 points gained from yesterdays Yankee but only one for today at 20-1!
Not the best of days to start Decmber yesterday with Full Speed failing to live up to its name in the
Wolverhampton 12:55 , Kantara Castle and Penara fell foul of a Jamie Osborne
gamble and the only horse with C&D. All early race times returned suggested
that the course had reverted back to extremely testing until the 3:30 which
proved this not to be the case when Maggie Pink made easy work of Miss
Avonbridge in the fastest race on the card. It wasn't too unexpected that
Kempton Park may need to come to the rescue with Driven On (adv 5-1) winning for subscribers
providing some dignity after Roskilly also 5-1 could only manage a poor third.
Our suggested Yankee in yesterdays post faired reasonably well returning 115 points profit EW at SP with 2 winners CAPAILL LAITH 11-4 and PRETTY BUBBLES 4-1
both winning, CORPORAL MADDOX 7-1 and BURNHOPE 10-1 finishing second. My misgivings for Passionada were also well founded and it would appear that the anticipated digression continues.
With only the one card today at Wolverhampton opportunities
are a little thin on the ground and I have to admit that with the exception of
two races with subscribers selections in, I am happier watching these races
unfold rather play in them.
The one horse that may be of some interest has to be FOLLOW
THE FLAG in the finale. It has been some time since last seen on this surface
(February 2013) when beaten 5 lengths in a Class 5 of a mark of 67 and even
further back to when seen over C&D beaten 6.3/4 lengths off a mark of 76 in
a Class 4.
Granted that its star is no longer shining as bright as it
once was, but now racing off 48 as result of recent efforts over trips it
barely gets at Southwell and ridden by an amateur jockey, now finds itself against
a top OR of 55 and I am perhaps reading a little more than I should in to the
jockey booking of Tom Queally hanging around to ride Alan McCabes only runner
at the meeting. Queally is more likely to be there for the ride on Michael Bell’s
Jayeff Herring in the 3:10 but you would then expect him to go home unless
there was some optimism for FOLLOW THE FLAG and at 20-1+ could be a nice EW play.

A Yankee for today on the All Weather
Monday cards are notoriously poor but I must say that I am
looking forward to today’s two All Weather fixtures which appear to be above
standard for the time of the week.
CAPAILL LIATH looks to have a good opportunity in the 2:50
Kempton and although not previously seen here over C&D has set a higher
standard in its 7f runs. I am also wary of horses that have been declared as
non-runners and then turn out a couple of days later. Not in a negative, but
positive sense and Mr David has done just that after recording its best time
over C&D when last seen here as did Ocean Legend.
In the 4:20 PRETTY BUBBLES recorded an above average
performance when last seen over C&D and a reproduction of that run could
see the remainder playing for the minor placing.
Tasrih and CORPORAL MADDOX produced almost identical speed
figures last time out with the former being over a mile as opposed to CORPORAL
MADDOX performance over C&D. In a competitive race there are dangers some
at good EW prices in the form of Liberty Jack 16-1, Nassau Storm 14-1 and Light
From Mars 12-1.
There is no surprise in seeing support for BURNHOPE (10-1) after
opening at 20-1 given its past performances here over C&D. Indian Affair
and Fortrose Academy look the best of the rest in my eyes!
PASSIONADA looks to have strong claims in the 4:05
Wolverhampton and all the 7-2 has been gobbled up. The concern is that in its 3
runs over C&D its last was also its worst.
Have a fun day J

Why last night, was the night for 14-1 'On The Money' selection Mosman.
A day of rest before tomorrow’s double header so a good time
to cover off why yesterdays ‘On The Money’ selection Mosman advised at 14-1 was
an exceptional proposition for subscribers. For me this was one of the best
bets of the year with everything making sense and falling in to place in this
race. A rarity indeed!
It also gives an insight in to the lengths a trainer goes
through to get that win and why it was backed from 14-1 down to an SP of 8-1 ;)
Here is the form line for Mossman:
Although it would appear from the Racing Post that Mosman
had raced over C&D on three previous occasions before last night’s win, in
fact, it was only once as a 2yo on the 17th December. The subsequent
runs on the 28th December 2012 and 11th Jan 2013 Mosman
raced over 1m 141yds and not 1m 1f 103 yds. With almost a furlong (220 yds)
between these distances, yet both distances register as 9f with Racing Post. Something to
be weary of over this trip!
There is no doubt that these races are where Mosman has been most
competitive finishing placed on all three races although still a maiden. Fergus
Sweeney was the jockey on all three occasions and there is no doubt now of the
significance of his booking last night.
The real give away for me was in my raw speed figures before
adjustment placing Mosman ahead of the field over C&D in a race won off a
faster pace than Dubai Destination and Poppy Bond had shown to be comfortable with. Add in
to consideration this time was recorded as a 2yo you would expect to see a
level of improvement at the backend of its 3yo career. You would be forgiven
for assuming that no improvement had been made as Mosman once given its mark of
66 for the race on 28th December 2012 is then cleverly placed to
drop this mark. Competing on 4 occasions over inadequate trips in better class including
over 6 furlongs.
Last night Mosman was reacquainted with Fergus Sweeney, was
dropped in class, was running off a mark of 55 and was running for the first
time back over a trip which saw it record one of its best time performance.
Mischief managed, a 10 race maiden gets off the mark!
Have a good Sunday J
