Week 6: A 33% Strike Rate isn't always enough

Week 6 was very quiet in terms of opportunities, and the opportunities that paid out were those at shorter prices. In fact they were so short that even though we managed a 33% strike rate with 7 winners from 21 selections, and another 7 placed, we still managed a small loss. This goes to show that as desirable as a high strike rate for our comfort is, it doesn't necessarily follow that it will deliver a profit.

BOOKMAKERS: The week started well enough with 5 winners from the first 10 selections but winning prices were not big enough to keep our noses in front. The gap grew by another 4 points between ‘Opening Shows’ and ‘SP’ prices and now stands at just short of 70 points. Bookmaker’s Total profit after this week’s 1.5 point loss now stands at £1,163.45 to £10 stakes.  

BETFAIR WIN: The disappointment beyond the 3.7 point loss it that SP was marginally better than ‘Odds Achieved’ caused by Betfair automatically reducing odds ordered with each non-runner. Although this would have only reduced the loss by a few pounds, the adage of looking after the pennies springs to mind! We are showing +31 points over SP with our orders so happy to persevere with the strategy. We now stand at a total profit for out Betfair Win bets of £989.24 which leaves us £174.21 adrift of the Bookmakers Bets.

  

Surprisingly, given the results of Bookmaker and Betfair win bets for the week, we have made a small profit on our place bets taking our overall profit on our place bets to £308.85 to £10 stakes.
