With a host of small races at Southwell yesterday I am
hopeful that my suggestion assisted in making the most of the opportunities on
offer with back-handed selection IMJIN RIVER, HANNAH’S TURN and AFRO all taking
the spoils on offer.
In Wolverhampton’s opener at 2:10, Dance For Georgie has had
its finest minutes over this trip without getting its head in front since being
hiked up the handicap after scoring back to back wins over 8f back in August
2012. Prior to its poor performance LTO under Duran Duran Fentiman MEDAM had
been knocking on the door and is reunited with Shirley Teasdale today. There is
little sign for me that the 8yo favourite and two times C&D winner
Lastkingofscotland has shown a return to the level of form capable of winning
this.
With Time Square, Derfenna Art, Minstrel Lad, Berkeley
Street, Shirazz and TAXIFORMISSBYRON all having put in good performances over this
trip in the past year the 3:10 is a tough race to take a definitive position on.
The latter has at least shown a degree of consistency not shown by the others, although it has a little more to do, it is at a price worthy of getting involved at 10-1. Minstrel
Lad looks the best of the fore mentioned.
Barring accidents LAYLAS BOY looks all over the winner in
the 3:40. As unfavourable as the draw may appear the fact the LAYLAS BOY tends
to run off the pace should negate this negative and I am sure Adam Kirby will
ride the horse to best advantage. Further support for one time C&D winner Excellent
News should be noted currently trading at 33-1 on the exchanges and supported
by several trade websites despite recent poor performances over C&D.
The lack of positive distance form makes the 4:10 a real
guessing game. I will happily predict Back In The Frame won’t be and the front
two in the market offer little appeal. A shot in the dark but DREAMING OF
RUBIES has only the one run on the surface resulting in a win and the pairing
of Graham Lee stays intact after a stamina boosting run on the slower surface
at Southwell LTO may see a more favourable result then recent form might
suggest at a handsome 45-1 on the exchanges.
The jolly in the 5:10 is being favoured by its consistency but
my figures suggest consistently poor for Jayeff Herring who I would be happier
to lay than back. We have little form to get our teeth in to but MASTERPAVER
ran a respectful race when last seen in its penultimate run on the surface
shaping like a step up would suit.
Good Luck to you all
